Hello,
Sorry for this late reply, the car is still for sale. My name is Katie Atkinson and I am the legal owner of this Chevrolet Tahoe. I would like to tell you that the car is in perfect condition, no accidents, never wrecked, non-smoker, great conditions, clear title. I have all the documents and service records.
The engine, drive train, equipment are all in proper working order. The ride is smooth, there are no shakes or pulls in the steering. it has only 86,371 miles and is in excellent running condition.
I am located in London, United Kingdom and I was sent here to improve the military relationships between our country and UK but I stored the vehicle into a shipping company warehouse from New York before leaving US.
I posted the car for sale all over the US (nation-wide ad), so you may see it at another location.
I am in possession of this Chevrolet Tahoe, from my former husband, as he lost it in
our divorce settlement. I do not want to keep it because will be very expensive to ship it from US to UK and i already made a deposit to buy a convertible here.
I hope the vehicle location has no negative effect on you because shipment is included in the vehicle price ($4,000.00) and will cost you nothing more. Regarding the car transport, will use a reputable shipping company. I’ve shipped several times with them and have established trust – the car is transported inside and therefore completely protected, It is insured in case of damage and it takes 3-5 days to be delivered at your door.
About the payment, because my current situation is pretty special, for your safety I want the deal closed only through eBay Motors Buyer Protection.
If we use the eBay BPP services you will have an 7 days inspection period prior buying the car.
In this way you have the chance to inspect the car before pay me, and I will be comfortable when I’ll ship you the car.
Let me know if you want to move forward, in order to open the transaction with eBay
I will need your shipping address in the following format:
Receiver Name-
Street Address-
City, State, Zip Code,
to forward it to the authorized personnel from eBay to start the transaction so you can buy the car from me.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Lt. Katie Atkinson

This was a scam for a Black MB G55 for $38,800 with only 8919 miles on it…sounds too good to be true, it was. The following is the email response I got one month after I emailed this guy to see if his autotrader ad was true:

“I am sorry for the late reply, but I was unable to handle the sale due to some personal problems. The car is still for sale. It is located in Plano, TX and the VIN is WDCYR71E45X160578. The asking price is $38,800. The car is registered on my name and the title is clear (no lien). It is in great condition, no dents or scratches. It was always garaged and the regular maintenance was done in time. It wasn’t involved in any accident and has never suffered any kind of damage. Also this is a non-smoker car. If you have any questions regarding the car or you want extra photos or the CARFAX report (for free) just let me know!

I’m a pilot on cargo flights. My wife broke up with me recently because I’m always away from home. We just sold our house and split the money. This is the last thing I need to sell and split the money with her.
Because I’m away most of the time I will not be able to deal in person. But I’ve already arranged the shipping and the title transfer anywhere in the US. I will pay the shipping fees.

I want the payment to be handled by MSN Autos. They will keep the money until you will receive and inspect the car. You will have 7 days of inspection period. If the car is not like described you will have to ship it back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren’t just fooling around.

Given the nature of this transaction please note that my sale terms are final and nonnegotiable. In order to move forward I will need your full name, address and phone number.
I don’t want to offend you, but the car is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing do not reply to this message!”

He said his name is Mark Gilger and he told me he was the one and only owner. The carfax he sent said there were 2 owners, his response was that he transferred ownership from his wife. He also sent me 35 pics of this amazing vehicle with black exterior and charcoal interior. I emailed MSN-AUTOS and was assured I was 100% protected and that they would hold my money until the car was shipped to me and inspected by me. My contact with MSN-AUTOS was solely through email and ‘live chat’ and when I asked to speak to a person on the phone they said they would get back to me, since then they have not responded to numerous emails and requests for live chat. Through my own research I found out the car did have 2 owners (not he and his wife) and was last purchased 3 months ago for 59, 000 and was WHITE not Black as all the pictures that were sent to me. Mark has also stopped answering my calls.

I was so excited for this deal I almost got taken advantage of and just wanted to make sure no one else did.

Update-just checked the msn-auto email address, and it was actually from msnautosinc.com which was a domain registered Nov. 7th (09) the first day of my communication with ‘Mark Gilger’

My Dad recently was purchasing a vehicle over the internet. I warned him about it, because you have no idea what is on the other end of that transfer. My grandma died about 2 years ago, and left my Dad her house in which case we sold it, and my Dad pocketed the cash. He was down to his last 22,000 dollars, and had been searching for a newer vehicle the last year and a half. He was always saying, “This is the last vehicle I will ever buy, so I better make a good choice.” Well, he was scammed by a man of the alias Chris Larsen, which is of course a funny name for a man with a heavy accent. My Dad couldn’t tell if he was middle eastern, or Mexican. He lives in Delaware (that’s the only truth) and sends out a large amount of photos in which case you can see his face in the reflection of the rear view mirror in one. He sends a carfax along with it, and even answers his phone.

First, my Dad sent 22,000 and the man called back 2 days later (with the money supposedly sitting at MSN Auto’s) and said that his wife’s lawyer found out that he was selling that Denali for that cheap (my Dad called it a grudge sale, just wanted to get away from the wife in a nasty divorce) and the guy wanted more money out of my Dad. But, what was weird and I warned him about this the whole time (he feels like such a dumba** he says) the guy only wanted an extra 2 thousand dollars. He claimed the lawyer was going to end the sale if he didn’t pay him an extra 2 grand, and he’d call the driver and stop him and make him come back. My Dad got ahold of him 3 days after he was “supposed” to receive the truck, and the guy claimed to be shocked and said he’d call my Dad back after he called to see where the driver was. After that, his phone was busy. This man also claimed to be a freighter pilot, which probably means he smuggles crap in and out of the country.

Well, he said my Dad would have to go through MSN Auto’s so everything is safe. I don’t know how they did it because my Dad went through MSN Auto’s and now has no truck, and 24,000 dollars floating around out there somewhere. Chase Bank is trying to stop it, my parents bank won’t do anything about it, the FBI won’t handle anything under 70 Million (Except at their Internet Crime Complaint Department) and the local police are “looking into it”. I feel so horrible that my Dad got scammed, and now he can’t buy a new vehicle. He’s been driving a 1993 Chevy Silverado 1500 Suburban since 1993. Since then, he’s bought my mother a new car for their anniversary in 2007. He’s bought me a new car when I graduated High School 5 years ago. I feel SO bad that he can’t get himself a truck now because of this person. Everything was completely legit, or so it seemed.

I don’t have the pictures, my Dad does. But, if anyone wants them really bad, I can sure get them from him and send them along. This man has also advertised the same truck about 8 or 9 different times, through out Florida and on Auto Trader. My Dad didn’t see that before hand, because it wasn’t on there until he “purchased” a vehicle. But, he did find the truck. The truck is at a dealership in Delaware. A man (not by the name Chris Larsen, but it was the same guy as described by the picture in the rear view, and his story about a divorce) traded in that exact Denali a while back for a Chevy Cobalt. So, he did have a truck, not his real name, and he sold it to the dealership way before he started this scam.

He made a mention of a point of contact in Denver. I have no idea what that is about, but this guy needs to be kicked, stabbed, beaten, punched, and whacked by everything known to man. Including his Denali. If anyone knows what else I can possibly do about this, email me at MissSketch@gmail.com. This happened oh, I’d say about a week ago. This dealership in Delaware has this guys real information, which our local police plan on getting (at their own pace, and someday.. you know, after the money is completely gone and unable to be frozen) and we live in Utah, so we can’t just drive over there. Although, I am seriously considering it if I cannot find a solution that fits my needs very soon. If this happened to your family, you’d be that mad too.
