Heres a second email I got after contacting a seller by the name of Tristan Morris about a Lexus RX 300 for sale on Craigslist in the San Diego area for $4400. For sure it’s a scam.

“Hi again,

At the moment I’m stationed at Nellis Air Force Base making final preparations before deploying to Kuwait. The vehicle is already at the shipping company, crated and ready to go. I had another customer who said it will buy and after I made all the necessary arrangements in advance and paid for all shipping & handling fees, changed his mind because he didn’t have all the money. This is why I need to ship it since all transportation charges have already been paid by me. Shipping may take anywhere maximum 5 business days depending on the destination. You will receive all documents with the vehicle.

Due to amount involved, I suggest using the security provided by eBay’s Vehicle Purchase Protection Program which will hold the cash. In my opinion this is the safest way to handle the transaction. You will have the car for inspection and test drive BEFORE any money is released to me.

You will receive all appropriate documents along with the vehicle. Naturally, I will sign all the documents so you can easily transfer the car into your name.

I presume you are not familiar with Ebay’s Protection Program, I have briefly described the transaction steps below:

1. The Seller will open the transaction
2. The buyer has to make the payment to ebay’s Financial Department and they will deposit the money into their escrow account.
3. eBay confirms to seller that the amount has been received.
4. Seller performs the required services (shipping, insurance).
5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay to tell them if he is satisfied or not
6. SafeHarbor will release the money to the seller(in case the buyer is satisfied) and to the buyer(in case that he is not satisfied).

So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the vehicle before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns you will have 7 days to inspect it. If you reject it eBay will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for both of us.

The car will be shipped directly to your requested address, as soon as I will have the payment confirmation from eBay. EBay will hold the money until you will receive, inspect and accept the car.

I’ll start the official procedure, and eBay will contact you about this. If you are interested in buying it just mail me back with:

- Your Full Name and your ebay user ID(optional) – Required by eBay (You’ll receive important guidelines + instructions from them.)
- Your Shipping Address and Phone Number – Required by the Shipping company (They will call you with delivery/pickup instructions 1 day ahead so you can communicate what time works best for you to receive the vehicle)

Again I want to point out that because I am going to Kuwait this sale is my top priority and I am after a fast transaction, with no delays. That is why I decided to lower the price, to avoid wasting time with negotiations and find a buyer as soon as possible.

So I thought I would give Craigslist another shot, this time looking for a new rent home for us to live in. This one is even scarier than the scam we almost fell for on the Tacoma pick up, because this one, they want you to fill out a credit report, where you have to provide all of you personal info, including SSN. PEOPLE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!! I sent an email on two different posts, to two totally different email addresses and got the same email back from both!!

Just to give you a little more information about the home, the water, trash
and garbage are paid by us. The security deposit can be paid in 2 installments if money is tight. (I know how that can be).
The house has a fenced in backyard and we do allow pets. The deposit per pet is a one time payment.
The house includes a washer and dryer, and we pay for lawn care so the renter does not have to cut the grass.

Was looking to buy a boat, and found one I liked, into it turned into an Ebay Scam with the protection program attached to it. The boat was such a great deal, and believe me it was a deal to good to be true. Luckly before we actually bought the boat we looked into the moneygram scam information as well as contacted Ebay to see if this was a possible fraud because something just didn’t seem right about the sell. As well when the fake invoice arrived (looked very real) it had webpage attached to make it seem real. I copied and pasted the email to info into the search icon so I could get there to see a possibilty of a scam. A behold there was no such webpage and error came up saying to check spelling, which I did several times to make sure I didn’t enter something wrong. I have delt with Ebay for awhile and did not remember them using moneygram, so that is what got me searching into this case. I hate this happen to honest people who are mostly looking for cheaper items to purchase. I hope people become aware of what is happening before it is to late. I do hope when these people get caught; they spend years in jail for defrauding people of honest money. This boat was for sale in Craigslist listed under Athen, GA and was selling cheap. She used the regular scam that has been circulating around, a sad story about divorce and having to sell cheap, then telling us it was to be held in a warehouse, the ebay invoice and protection plan, and so on. She is telling that she is in a military base waiting deployment. Please Beware this boat looks to be in excellent condition and prob. will be listing it again under some other state. The boat she told us was in a shipping warehouse in a totally different state than she was in. If you feel uncomfortable with the sale, you need to look into it. EBAY SAYS ON THERE PAGE THAT THEY DO NOT USE MONEGRAM OR ANY WIRE TRANSFERE this is mainly because they do try to protect you somewhat from fraud, b/c in most cases you don’t get your money back . If a seller askes for this then there is a big possibilty that it is a scam. If you feel like the sell is a scam contact an Ebay person to make sure it is real and not a fraud. The invoice looks very, very real. Like it was an actual Ebay invoice, except you don’t use monegram or an agent. On Ebay you bid and if you win you pay mostly through Paypal, or buy it now option, or an aution.

Another scam! Wanted $3,400.00 for this car. Sent a VIN # and when we put in the number the actual 2003 Tahoe was setting on a lot in Lodi, WI, for $14,000. It is too bad that these people can’t be caught because there are so many good and trusting people that lose their money. They tried using the Ebay VPP and even had someone send an email that they were legitimate. This vehicle is being advertised on Oodle. com.
