I found on craigslist a really nice 2002 toyota tacoma for $3200 which I thought might be too good to be true but tried it anyway and come to find out it was too good to be true. Luckily I didnt lose any money on this and hopefully I can help the next person. The email he used was tylor.reyes@googlemail.com

I got an email back that said he was selling it for so cheap because he was a single father with 2 kids and needed the money and if I just gave him my full name and address he would set up the transaction using ebay’s privacy protection. I was not going to give him that info, one because I haven’t used ebay and didnt know anything about the privacy protection but I figured if I really had to use it then I could set up my own thing and he wouldnt need my info, plus I just dont give that kind of info to strangers.

So I emailed him back saying I would just really like to see the truck and drive it and I would have the cash in hand that I would give him after I got to drive it. In waiting for his reply I looked up ebays privacy protection so I could learn a little more about it and noticed some info on scams. Which leads to the next email I recieved from him and I was sure it was a scam.

He said the truck was loaded and sealed in a container in Brooklyn, NY ready to be shipped out and he had a contract through ebay so we had to go through them. According to ebay he told me I had 5 days and if I wasnt happy I could ship it back with no cost to me and that they would contact me with the necessary info about the transaction.

That’s when I knew it was a scam. Who would say they lived in the SF Bay Area but have a truck that they were trying to sell from across the country for hella cheap, and also wouldnt want to have the cash right there in their hand ready to go.

I just want to alert other people like I was able to search and find out before I lost out on money.
