Craigs List and eBay VPP Scam 2006 NOMAD TRAVEL TRAILER DOUBLE SLIDE BUNKS RV CAMPER

I believed that this was also too good to be true and I got this feeling in my gut when this Larry Alexander using email larry.anderson06@gmail.com but the reply for info comes from a different email larry.a@gmx.us replied to my request for info on a 2006 Nomad Travel Trailer. As the transaction started he just repeated the info on the Craigslist and a link to see more pictures but then I wanted to know when and where I could see the unit. Then next email said that the unit is located with a shipper and would have it shipped to me. I insisted that I must inspect the vehicle before sending funds and then he sends me a link to ebay using the VPP program. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a scam! I have reported to ebay and will be reporting it to Craigslist to have the listing removed from there as well. I hope that we as a group can run these abusive jerks out of business! Thank you to whom ever established this website blog!

    From “Scott Cain”
    2006 Nomad Travel Trailer

Before I left the city I had prearranged the deal with eBay Motors so my presence in town isn’t necessary. The trailer is in their possession in New York, NY ready for delivery. You will have 5 days to test drive and inspect the trailer. So if you want to make this deal I need the following information:

    Your full name and address
Shipping address (street, city, zip code)
    Phone #

Then I will forward them to eBay Motors and I will precede the order. eBay will contact you with all the details that you need to complete this deal and also to see that I am covered by them and that I am legit seller.

Here is how this deal will work:
    1. I will forward the details of our transaction to the eBay Buyer Protection.
    2. They will process the paperwork and will email you the Payment Invoice and the transaction details.
    3. You will have to submit the payment so you can prove that you are a serious buyer, as instructed to one of the eBay agents.
    4. The payment will be verified and if everything is OK, eBay will deliver the vehicle to your address on my own cost. The vehicle will be shipped insured to your location with Dependable Auto Shippers.
    5. After you receive it, you will have 5 days to inspect and test drive the vehicle (you will receive the trailer and title within 2 days right at your address).
    6. If you accept the trailer by confirming to eBay, they will release me the money (if not you will receive the full refund of the amount sent before shipping). They will then FedEx overnight the signed title to you and all the camper documents that you need to register it under your name. If you decide to NOT accept the camper for any reason, they will refund your full payment price within 48 hours.
They will then make the necessary arrangement to have the camper picked back up by the transport company.

I also inquired about this trailer and got the following response from scott cain:

Hello I’m Scott, sorry for my delay in response, but currently I work on a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico and I have been very busy with my work. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying the camper. The total price for my 2006 Nomad Travel Trailer Double Slide Bunks RV Camper is $2,700. I wanted to keep the trailer but I left the city for a better job in Gulf of Mexico, so I decided to sell it. The trailer is in showroom condition, no liens; it was never involved in an accident, 8 sleeping capacity, leveling jacks included and clear title.

So if you are interested please email me back so I can explain you how the transaction will work.

It appears this guy is still in action. Listing on Craigslist with an email address of kidharkab@gmail.com as a respond to address, then I got a response from him as scottcain@gmx.com I have googled kidharkab address and found multiple listings of this same camper and flagged them all for abuse through Craigslist as well as contacted Craigslist directly asking/pleading to remove his membership privileges. Hopefully something is done about this guy before someone falls for the scam!!!

    I got this today:
Hello I’m Scott, thank you for your interest in buying my travel trailer, the 2006 Nomad Travel Trailer is still for sale. I am the original owner. Comes with all the bells and whistles, you will receive it with all papers and receipts that he needs to register it so if you buy it you don’t have to worry about the paperwork. My final price is $2,950. I know it’s really cheap but we need cash money to pay the mortgage on my house and during this financial crisis you can’t sell anything for its real value, the trailer is in showroom condition, no liens; it was never involved in an accident, 8 sleeping capacity, leveling jacks included and clear title, length (feet): 31 dry. I will use eBay Protection Program for this transaction! That way you will receive assistance for the purchase, paperwork, title transfer, because I’m member from 2002 and I have 100% positive feedback.
Here are some pics: https://picasaweb.google.com/kidharkab/Trailer?authkey=Gv1sRgCP_d56KzzvKBYg# and if you are still interested please email me back so I can explain you how the transaction will work.

    Thanks

Hey we almost got into a bid with what I believe is the same guy. He is now going by: Jason Kraus” We emailed him about an interest in the camper and he emailed back stating that it was in excellent condition with a link to pictures. We emailed back and said we were interested but would like to look at it in person and pick it up and pay cash. This is how he responded:

    Hello again,
The camper is currently located at approximately five miles of Binghamton, NY. stored in freight carrier and the pick it up option is not available, but it could also be transported free of charge by Dependable Auto Shippers, because they works with US Army, we have free shipping all over the US (Estimated Shipping Time: 3-5 business days). I’m looking for a quick sale, that’s why I’ve reduced the asking price at: $2,600.
Due to the urgent nature of sale I’d like to conclude this transaction using the security provided by eBay’s Buyer Protection Program, they basically act as an independent third party between buyer and seller. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the trailer to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. If you’re really interested to move forward just e-mail me back with your: full Name, delivery address, cell phone# and my eBay agent will contact you to explain the purchasing procedure.
    Respectfully,
    Jason

We wrote back and told him we were not comfortable giving him this information and asked if he was going to put it on ebay. He has not responded. I am nervous though b/c he has my name and my husband’s first name and his cell phone number. Should I take further action? Is my identity in jepardy?

This guy, whatever name he is using today, is listing it in cities all accross the country. So be warned!

My wife almost fell for a similar scam. could be the same guy. I led him along for a couple of days and then a supposed guy with EBAY VPP contacted me and instructed me to send the funds Western Union to Jacksonville, Florida. It started as a girl who lost her husband in Iraq.

Here is the kicker, the person I was to send yhe funds to suddenly had the same last name as me and the name was Christian (could be girl or guy)! Supposedly to make it easier to get the money.

Now I’m not goofy enough to fall for this, so I start leading him on for 3 days that all my funds are in an internet bank, so I can only Wire directly to his Bank account. I call the Jacksonville Police and offer to put up my own $500 to make it a felony. All they have to do is go to the bank and arrest him. I know if I did Western union he could go to any branch to pick up the money.

The Jacksonville officer in the Bunco Squad gave me nothing but greif! Then he hung up on me! So good luck getting some help from a gov. agency.

Also he had to give me an address when he asked for Western Union. I did a reverse search and found 2 guys and a girl living at that address all in thier 20′s. The police would not even run thier names to see if they had outstanding warrants or had been in trouble for this before.

I worked hard to nail this guy and felt like I was really let down by the Jacksonville officer.

This person/persons is still at it, only now he’s going by: From: David Krieger
I don’t know all of the details at this time. My dad was actually the one that found this post on craigslist & he sent me this email that this individual had sent to him, which was I believe the 2nd or 3rd response(one of us will post the others tomorrow, but here is this one):

“Hello I’m David and first of all i want to thank you for your recent interest in my 2006 nomad travel trailer. I am the first owner, comes with all the bells and whistles, you will receive it with all papers and receipts that he needs to register it so if you buy it you don’t have to worry about the paperwork. My final price is $2,600. The trailer is in showroom condition, no liens, no pets, no smoke; it was never involved in an accident, 8 sleeping capacity, leveling jacks included and clear title, length feet: 31 dry. I must to use eBay Protection Program for this sale, because I want to avoid wasting time with negotiations and find a buyer before my upcoming deployment take place. That way you will receive assistance for the purchase, paperwork, title transfer.
If you are still interested please email me back so I can explain you how the transaction will work.

    Thanks”

I have also looked at the other links posted on here that this individual/individuals (scam artist/s) has sent to others of you to see the pics. & they are all the same exact pics as the ones on the link he sent to my dad; even though it is now a different url. As soon as I get the other emails from my dad, I will post them as well, but I wanted to get this posted as soon as possible so hopefully others will see it & not be scammed for their hard earned money.
    Buyer Beware!
