U.S. Military overseas
I was in the U.S. Army and assigned to TASCOM in Worms, Germany. Part of my duties included processing service men and women’s cars from the US to Europe. The US military DOES NOT ship autos to overseas assignment locations unless the country accepts US vehicles for use on the highways of that country. That includes Great Britain and all of Europe. The only assignment areas where you cannot ship a POV (privately owned vehicle) are Iraq, Afghanistan and the former Yugoslavia areas. Remember that when you read these bs stories about a soldier who can’t register the car in the country of his/her new duty assignment. THE CAR WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SHIPPED IF IT COULD NOT BE REGISTERED AND DRIVEN.
